Senior Application ProcessIntroduction | Junior Application Process | Senior Application Process | Sophomore Application Process Fall of Senior Year
Review your transcript with the Registrar and receive an unofficial copy. Meet with the College Counselor and your parents in a "team" session if you haven't already. Continue to be involved with extra-curriculars but don't load up. Attend college presentations and special senior seminars. Interact with visiting college representatives (maybe set up an interview on campus at MSSM) Discuss your summer progress and finalize your college plans with the College Counselor. Narrow your college list to a well-balanced list of final great "match" colleges (our school average is 9 colleges). Make a chart or spreadsheet including deadline dates and all requirements for each school to which you are applying. See the checklist available on this site! Get your applications done early and KEEP YOUR APPLICATION GUIDELINES IN MIND!! File a CSS Profile if it is required by your selected colleges. Attend financial aid presentations and begin the FAFSA (must be submitted by January 1st). Visit your top choice colleges if possible (schedule interviews and tours well in advance). Ask for recommendations early using the Teacher Recommendation Form and remember to send Thank-You Notes!! Take final SAT/SAT II/ACT tests (best to have these completed all testing before winter break). Remember the College Counselor is eager to help, so take advantage of being able to have as many meetings as you'd like. Keep your parents up-to date on your applications progress. File NCAA paperwork if you are planning to participate in Division I or Division II Athletics. Utilize the assistance of the college counselor for anything and everything. Get into your scholarship search full-time (it is a good Winter Break Project). Submit scholarship transcript requests and applications as early as possible WAIT and remember that you have done your very best. ïŠ Compare college offers and financial aid packages with your parents and college counselor. Visit or re-visit schools to which you have been accepted. Notify colleges of your intentions by May 1st- you may need to submit deposits and documents. Take AP exams. Complete the MSSM College Counseling End-of-Process Form which will indicate the school to which your final transcript should be sent. Revel in your success! Celebrate graduation!
