Bio
Mr. Dougan was born in rural Connecticut and enjoyed a bucolic childhood. He attended Colby College with a major in Biochemistry and Biology. He was a pre-med student interested in psychiatry, but after two summers as a psychiatric aide at the prestigious Institute of Living, he decided medical school was not for him and he entered an accelerated Ph.D. program in molecular biology at York University in Toronto . He has begun work on an MPH in industrial hygiene at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He has been a research fellow at Jackson Laboratory and the Idaho National Energy Laboratory. His research interests include control mechanisms of protein synthesis and bioremediation. He has also attended the University of Hartford and Idaho State University .
Mr. Dougan's interests include gardening, architecture, weight lifting, cross country skiing, golf, and sericulture. His claims to fame are that he was a river rat on the last log drive in Maine; bench pressed 310 pounds, and worked extensively with the Massachusetts Bomb Squad. His favorite poem is The Sunlight on the Garden, his favorite book, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, and his favorite place is Castle Hill.
