Deb Eustis-Grandy is a Maine native and one of the founding faculty of the MSSM. She has an undergraduate degree in environmental science from the University of Maine, Fort Kent, and graduate degrees in ecology from the University of Connecticut. Her scholarly interests include wetland biogeochemistry, historical ecology, and the impact of disturbance (particularly fire and glaciation) on development of terrestrial ecosystems. Deb enjoys working and traveling in northern localities, spent a year in Finland on a Fulbright Fellowship, and has taken students on field research expeditions to Mexico, Newfoundland, and Sweden. Her natural history interests have also brought her to the Bahamas, Russia, Mongolia, China, and northern Quebec. Much of Deb's free time over the past few years has been devoted to restoring her 100+ year-old house with appropriate architectural details.

Deb's hobbies include cross country skiing, all things computers (including building her own), Finnish and Swedish culture/language/biogeography, Victorian architecture and house restoration, natural history, glacial geology, gardening, and digital imaging
