  • Bio

Mr. Novotny was born and raised in Slovakia, a small country in the heart of Europe. His early interest in mathematics led him to attend specialized schools focusing on math in his home town Zilina starting in 5th grade. Mr. Novotny earned his B.S. and M.S. in Mathematics, Biology and Education at the Comenius University in Bratislava, the capital and Slovakia's largest city. While in his senior year, he was accepted by the Austrian-American Educational Cooperation Association in the Professional Teacher Development Program. The challenges of teaching mathematics in the NYC public school system as well as living in the Big Apple were invaluable experiences. In 2006, he began coursework at Touro College, NYC, leading to the M.S. in Instructional Technology. After four years of teaching in NYC, Mr. Novotny has been given the opportunity to teach at the MSSM and experience a different approach to education than previously, including his own in Slovakia.

Mr. Novotny is fluent in Slovak, Czech, English, and proficient in German. He finds joy in troubleshooting and working with computers as well as playing games. In addition, he likes to listen to and DJs electronic music from his large vinyl and CD collection.

Mr. Novotny is currently on H1-B temporary work visa and would like to become an US citizen in the future.
