Bio
Mr. Siddiqui is an Aroostook County native. Mr. Sid, as we like to call him, was born in Caribou and attended the Caribou school system, and graduated from Caribou High School in 1992. From there, Mr. Sid went on to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he earned his bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics as well as a minor in Music Composition. While at MIT, Mr. Sid was given the unique opportunity to teach recitation sections of Differential Equations and Calculus and he became passionate about these experiences. As a result of his exceptional work in teaching these courses, Mr. Sid became the only MIT undergraduate to ever win the Charles and Holly Housman Award for Excellence in Teaching which is awarded annually to an MIT graduate student.
After completing his studies at MIT, Mr. Sid went on to Duke University to earn his Master's of Arts in Teaching Degree with a focus on mathematics. From there, Mr. Sid was hired to join the MSSM teaching staff as a mathematics instructor. Since that time, Mr. Sid has had a wealth of opportunities. He has served as a full-time mathematics instructor, chorus accompanist, youth group leader, math team coach, MSSM Summer Camp Director, and advisor to many different clubs and activities. In 2001, Mr. Sid was a regional finalist for Maine State Teacher of the Year, while in 2003, he was named a Milliken Educator and also awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. Here at MSSM, Mr. Sid has also had the opportunity to try his hand in administration as he served as the school's Interim Executive Director for the 2004-2005 school year and the Dean of Students and Director of Studies for the 2005-2006 school year.
Mr. Sid and his wife are actively involved in their church where Mr. Sid leads the choir. Together, the Siddiquis have recorded a piano (Mr. Sid) and vocal (Mrs. Sid) CD entitled, "Our Journey of Hope." Mr. Sid also loves to play tennis and ping pong.
