Dawn McDonald Receives MPA Principal's Award

Dawn McDonald of Oakfield, a senior at the Maine School of Science and Mathematics in Limestone, has been selected to receive the 2008 Principal’s Award, Academic Dean Catherine Bowker announced today. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.

“Dawn is a wonderful example for her peers. She is not only a serious academic student, but she is also one of the most caring and giving students I have met in my 28 years in education” Dean Bowker noted.

The Honors Luncheon recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of five $1000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler.Mr. McGowan and Mr. Tyler were former Maine principals and executive directors of the Association.

The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 140 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
