Summer 2009

Dear MSSM Students and Parents,

I hope you have had time to decompress now that the school year is over and you are back together for the summer. We will be working hard throughout the summer to prepare for a great 2009-2010.

We have several new staff members and a few staff who have changed positions. Some of you met the new staff when they were on campus for their interviews. Ms. Gwen Curtis, a music major, will be leading our music program. Ms. Curtis graduated in May 2009 with a BA in music (Magna Cum Laude) from Franklin Pierce University in New Hampshire. She will direct the MSSM Chorus and will give private instrumental lessons.

Ryan Badecker will also be joining the residential staff next year. Ms. Badecker graduated from McGill University in Montreal with a BA in mathematics. She is looking forward to working with students and faculty in the mathematics department.

Mr. Donovan, Mr. Reed, Ms. Emmerich, and Ms. Dupre will round out the residential intern staff.

Joining them in the residence hall will be Mr. Daniel Melega, our new U.S. History and economics teacher. Mr. Melega graduated with distinction in government and history from Colby College in Waterville, Maine. In addition to serving as a fulltime faculty member, Mr. Melega will also be a member of the residential staff.

Another new faculty member is Mr. Luke Shorty, MSSM alum, who will work in the mathematics department with Mr. Pedersen and Mr. Novotny. Mr. Shorty graduated from Montana State University with an MS in mathematics. He is very excited about returning to MSSM as a faculty member.

Your schedule will be sent in July. We have built advisory time into the first day so if you have changes you would like to make to your schedule you will be able to meet with your advisor that day to discuss changes.

Enjoy the rest of your summer. I look forward to your return in August.
