Ambassadors in Action

The heart of any great admissions experience lies in human connection. At the Maine School of Science and Mathematics, our Student Ambassadors offer that connection in every conversation, campus tour, and event. As Dean of Enrollment Management, Santiago Durango explains, “Their voices and experiences make the admissions process more personal and meaningful.” These students aren’t salespeople. They are genuine storytellers who share their real lives, hopes, and discoveries. Through their presence, families see MSSM not just as a school, but as a community where students support one another and grow together.

Senior and Lead Ambassador Elena Wirth believes this year marks a significant step forward for the program. “We have a strong foundation to work from, but the sky is the limit in our ideas to further develop over this year and beyond,” she says. Her leadership, along with co-lead ambassador Easton Allen, ensures every ambassador is active and confident when meeting new families. Their goal is simple yet powerful: to ensure every visitor feels welcome and valued.

“As a freshman, giving tours helped me build important conversation skills, which continue to grow my confidence,” Easton recalls. What begins as a role in admissions quickly becomes an opportunity for personal growth and connection. “Fueled by the perspectives of our ambassadors, we will work hard to develop every aspect of the program, driven by our shared passion for the school.” Their contributions strengthen not only the admissions process but the entire MSSM community. When families meet an ambassador, they meet the true heart of MSSM.
