Brunswick Botanical

Brunswick Botanical

On Sunday, September 15th, five students and a faculty member visited the New Brunswick Botanical Garden, just north of Edmundston, an hour away from MSSM. This was an optional weekend excursion which appealed to the naturalists in our student body - the birders, mycology enthusiasts, and members of a potential student botanical club. Though the gardens were winding down for the season, we still admired some late tea roses, pond lilies, and some volunteer mushrooms. Pictured here are students gathering to identify a ring of mushrooms, frog-watching from a bridge, enjoying an astronomy-themed outdoor installation, and posing in front of one the garden's many "living sculptures." Informal outings like this let our students have a refreshing change of scenery and get to know other students with similar interests, while making use of the various educational and recreational resources we have access to despite our remote location.
