County Harmony
The All-Aroostook Chorus Concert, held on Friday, December 6, and Saturday, December 7, at the Caribou Baptist Church, showcased the exceptional vocal talents of Northern Maine students. Organized by the Northern Maine Music Educators Association (NMMEA), this annual event represents District Seven of the Maine Music Educators Association and brings together middle and high school vocalists from across Aroostook County. MSSM was happy to send 7 penguins to join the chorus.
The concert serves as a celebration of musical excellence, providing a unique opportunity for students from different schools to collaborate and perform in a festival setting. This event fosters a strong sense of community while encouraging participants to refine their vocal skills and share their passion for music with a larger audience.
The All-Aroostook Chorus Concert has a rich history of bringing out the best in young musicians, from the 69 singers featured in the 2023 concert at the same venue to over 220 vocalists who performed in 2011 at Presque Isle Middle School. It remains a cornerstone of music education in the region, offering a platform where students can grow artistically and connect through the shared language of music. For many participants, it’s a highlight of their musical journey and a treasured memory for years to come.
