DECA Dream Team

On Thursday, February 12th, eight MSSM students attended the DECA State meet in Auburn, Maine. DECA is a global non-profit student organization that prepares high school and college students for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. This was MSSM's first-ever DECA appearance. Six of the eight students finished in the top three in their categories; students who finish in the top two are invited to the ICDC, the International Career Development Conference, in Atlanta, Georgia, in April. MSSM had five students invited to Atlanta! 

• Finn Dedek finished 1st in Principles of Finance
• WanTing (Wendy) Huo finished 1st in Principles of Hospitality and Tourism
• Marina Kirmani finished 2nd in Principles of Marketing
• Samantha Houghton finished 2nd in Sports and Entertainment Marketing
• Ahliya Roy finished 2nd in Principles of Business Management Administration
• Greyson Walker finished 3rd in Principles of Hospitality and Tourism
• Abhi Reddy and Edward Packard received top scores in  the Business Administration Core Exam and performed well at the conference

Maine DECA is authorized by DECA Inc. to administer programs and services within the state. Maine DECA implements programs and services for chapters within the chartered association that support the mission of DECA and serves as a liaison between local chapters and DECA Inc.
