Dual Diplomas
We are pleased to recognize the outstanding achievements of nine seniors from the Maine School of Science and Mathematics (MSSM) who are graduating not only with a high school diploma but also with an Associate's degree from the University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI). This remarkable accomplishment highlights their dedication, hard work, and commitment to academic excellence.
Through the MSSM Dual Enrollment program with UMPI, these exceptional students embarked on a rigorous academic journey, guided by their advisors and MSSM College Counselor. By meticulously planning their coursework, they successfully completed the requirements for both a high school diploma and an Associate of Arts degree.
Two of our graduates, Nathaniel Hayes and Emiko Peck, proudly walked across the stage during the commencement ceremony, symbolizing the culmination of years of perseverance and determination. Joining them in this prestigious achievement are Gabriel Austin, Hanna Cox, Rye Hughes, Charley Reischer, Beth Rethman, Bruno Sainz, and Max Usher, who earned their degrees but chose not to walk during the ceremony.
As Madi McCarthy, MSSM Class of 2019, expresses, "I benefited immensely from the connection between UMaine and MSSM." She emphasizes the invaluable opportunities afforded by earning an Associate's Degree while attending MSSM, including early access to undergraduate research opportunities, such as her contract position with NASA.
The MSSM Dual Enrollment program with UMPI has empowered these graduates to excel academically, setting them on a path towards future success and fulfilling careers. We congratulate them on this remarkable accomplishment and wish them continued success in all their future endeavors.
