Gliding Through Life
MSSM Freshman Samantha Houghton recently performed with the Northern Maine Figure Skating Club (NMFSC). The show was "Wonka on Ice" and Samantha played the part of Grandpa Joe. While this was her first year with the NMFSC, she has been skating since she was 2 and participated in the end-of-the-year showcase at Sawyer Arena in Bangor. Earlier in the season she participated in several in-state competitions, earning either gold or silver medals in all events she entered. Additionally, she passed her pre-bronze skating skills test this spring. She has been practicing on Saturday mornings at the Presque Isle Forum since the fall when it seasonally converted to ice skating. Many students had planned to attend the show, but the weather was not cooperating with us and our fleet was grounded. However, we look forward to seeing many other shows over the years. We are happy to see her gliding through life on the rink!
