Penguins vs Beavers

After a heartbreaking double overtime loss to the Washburn Beavers 6 days prior the Penguins were out for revenge on their home turf.

Things didn't start out ideal when 3:59 into the game Washburn's Garret Plourde scored an unassisted goal giving them the lead but also snapping our Penguin's defense into focus. For the next 26 minutes the teams were in a stalemate until with 10 minutes to go Niko Theriault beat his man down the sideline and on his centering pass, Ahbi Reddy crashes the goal and puts the ball in the back of the net tying up the game. The game would go into halftime tied up.  But MSSM wouldn't lose that momentum. Even though Washburn started the half with the ball it took the Penguins only 19 seconds to dissect and pass their way through the Beaver's defense and for Luke Ingalls to get a through ball to Niko Theriault for the goal. Finally, with 24:17 left in the game MSSM wins a corner kick, with Easton Allen putting a perfect back post ball for Niko Theriault to put in his 2nd goal of the game in making the score 3-1. That wasn't the end of the drama however. With approximately 8 minutes left Keeper Lochlan O'Connor collided with both a teammate and opposing player coming out to break up a Beaver attack. Unfortunately leading to Lochlan being taken off with a golf cart. Silas Ociepka stepped in to finish off the game and between him and the Penguins Defense were able to prevent Washburn from scoring or getting any real quality chances.
