Senate’s Spud-Slinging Event

Senate’s Spud-Slinging Event

MSSM’s Student Senate held a unique fundraiser with a “Potato Hurl” event, combining school spirit with messy fun. For just 50 cents, students could grab a handful of cold, mashed potatoes and hurl them at a target panel made up of brave volunteer students and faculty who were wearing ponchos. The panel was seated about 20 feet away, trying to dodge flying potatoes or, in some cases, embracing the splat. The event quickly became a hit, with students lining up to take their turn and participants getting thoroughly covered in mashed potatoes.

The Potato Hurl raised over $100 in profit, proving the appeal of good-humored competition and a bit of organized chaos. Not only did the event bring in funds, but it also helped build camaraderie among students and teachers, as everyone shared in the laughs and lighthearted competition. The success of the fundraiser highlighted the creativity and spirit of the MSSM Student Senate, providing a fun break from the usual routine while raising money to support future student activities. It’s safe to say that this spud-tacular event is a cherished, and maybe even traditional, fundraising activity at MSSM.
