Welcome New Penguins

Welcome New Penguins

On the 6th and 7th of April, Maine School of Science and Mathematics (MSSM) welcomed newly admitted penguins and their families for two days of connecting, exploration, and celebration. The event gave families a great chance to become acquainted with the campus community and proceed towards enrollment.

The event involved classroom visits for students, a panel presentation by current parents, and free interaction with faculty and staff to inquire about the MSSM experience. As students toured their potential academic environment, parents were afforded the opportunity to engage more deeply with life at MSSM through open discussion and firsthand accounts.

Community panels were contrasted by icebreakers, such as "Minute to Win It" games and the ever-popular "Great MSSM Baking Show." These helped new students break the ice and start forming connections with other new and current students.

At the conclusion of the two-day visit, there was a concert put on by the music department and then families departed with confidence regarding the journey ahead. This was more than a welcome, in fact, it marked the beginning of a life-changing experience at MSSM.
