MSSM Youth in Government

This past weekend, MSSM students went to the State House in Augusta to participate in the annual Maine YMCA Youth in Government program. Students, elected to positions from Representatives to the Governor himself, had the opportunity to work together in various committees to decide which student-written bills would see a vote. Working hard all weekend, the students experienced Maine politics firsthand, seeing how the political process works in our State's capital. MSSM's own Peter Butera serves as Governor this year, helping to promote a number of bills that he either wrote or co-sponsored; and each student had the chance to present their own bill to their peers from around the State. Allie Sullivan's bill to provide Narcan to schools was voted Best Bill by her peers. Congratulations to all who participated!
