Dorm Life
The community at MSSM is what truly separates our experience from traditional secondary education.
Classmates, mentors, and friends live together as part of an extraordinary community of learners, nurturing, challenging, and supporting each other in formation of the full student.
The dorm is where you will learn self-reliance, while also how to live in community with others. It’s where you will find friends to help with a difficult homework assignment, or relax in the lower lounge and play a game. It’s where you’ll practice important skills like trust and patience and respect for others, all while being supported by an extraordinary residential staff.
Residential Life
The Dorm houses all MSSM students and Residence Life staff. Students quickly call the dorm “home” as it becomes a place to relax, study, cook a meal with friends in one of the kitchens, watch a movie in the lower lounge, or grapple with a tough calculus problem.
The dorm is also a hub for evening and weekend activities at MSSM. Bake-offs, tea nights, board game nights, ping pong tournaments, Sunday football, movie nights, and afternoon Just Dance marathons are not uncommon events to see on the calendar. The swimming pool, located in the academic building, is available for students’ use on a regular basis. On campus, outdoor pursuits include walking, hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing on beautiful four-season trails. Equipment for these activities is available to borrow from the residential life office.
Nearly every week, there are opportunities for students to get off campus and explore the region. Depending on the season, there are trips to go shopping; visit the local roller or ice skating rinks, bowling alley, alpine ski mountain, wildlife refuge, state park, or humane society; or just head out to grab a bite to eat with friends!
Health Services
MSSM’s Health Services Wing is overseen by the Director of Health Services and is the coordination point for care of students’ physical and mental health. Students’ health is a foundation point for their success and we do everything we can to provide them with the best possible care.
Athletics
MSSM students don’t just distinguish themselves in the classroom, they do so on the court, field, and trails as well. MSSM offers opportunities to take part in athletics all three seasons. For students, athletics are a great way to challenge yourself, relieve stress, make friends, or even just try something new!
Clubs & Activities
With dozens of clubs and activities to choose from, MSSM students can find multiple ways to explore interests, make friends, have fun, give back to their community, or pursue a passion – or maybe just see who can eat a head of lettuce the fastest!
