Affording Summer Camp

Tuition for one week of camp is now $800 a week for overnight campers$450 a week for day campers, and we have a special rate for the Limestone Community School students of $300 for them to come as day campers.

If you are able, and willing to pay more than the tuition to help another camper, we would greatly appreciate it. Please contact us at mssmsummercamp@mssm.org. It can be tax-deductible.

There are also scholarships available after March, but very few, if any, full scholarships. If you receive financial aid, we may be able to find an additional scholarship, but it won’t pay for everything. We give any full scholarships we have to first time campers. Scholarships are awarded to families with financial need first, then to new campers. It is possible to find a scholarship for two weeks, but those may be awarded later, depending on current enrollment. We often have essay contests for new campers. The winners can get $250, $375, or $500 scholarships. More information can be found here.

Finally, we have some other special discounts:

$50 off, early bird, for registering before February 15th. That means paying the $100 non-refundable deposit and then we will apply the discount. If your camper stays two weeks, this will only apply to one week.
The above discounts can only have one with either financial aid or a scholarship.

You can receive no more than 2 discounts combined.

For example, Financial Aid plus 1 such as partial scholarship, Early Bird, Sibling, two weeks, etc. The only exception is the Refer-a-Friend which.  Discounts will be applied weekly by the camp administration, they have no cash value if you cancel your session.

The only exception to that rule is for the Refer-a-Friend discount. If your camper has been to camp before and you refer a new non-sibling camper who pays the $100 non-refundable deposit, you will get $100 off. You can do this up to 6 times per week. That would mean referring 6 new campers per week who each pay the $100 non-refundable deposit. This can be combined with either Financial Aid or a scholarship, but it cannot pay for 100% of the tuition.

Please see the Frequently Asked Question below for more information.

F.A.Q.

Are there full scholarships available? There are some partial scholarships available after March, but very few, if any, full scholarships. If you receive financial aid, we may be able to find an additional scholarship, but it won’t pay for everything. We give any full scholarships we have to first-time campers. To receive a scholarship, you must read and agree to the terms on the scholarship page.

What is the difference between financial aid and scholarships?
Financial Aid is based on need and determined using the State of Maine Reduced and Free Lunch Income Guidelines. Income eligibility documentation is required.

What are the possible award amounts?
Our full financial aid amount is $375 and partial financial aid amount is $250. Financial aid is only awarded once, either full or partial aid. A scholarship award along with Financial Aid may be possible, but is not guaranteed. We are not able to offer award amounts for full tuition at this time. The $100 non-refundable deposit is required.

How do I apply for financial aid?

Once your Summer Camp application has been submitted and the $100 non-refundable deposit has been paid, the Financial Aid Application will become visible under your account. Please be sure to submit income verification along with your application in order to ensure timely processing.
