Interested in working for the MSSM Summer Camp during the 2019 season? Please follow the instructions for your desired position below:

Mentors (New to Working at MSSM Camp):

Email summercamp@mssm.org with the subject line “Interested in Working at Summer Camp - New Mentor” and tell us about yourself. Just a paragraph or two about where you live, your hobbies and interests, if you’ve been to camp, what you liked and didn’t like about camp, and what skills you have that you can bring to camp. We’d also love to hear any new ideas you have that would make camp better.

Mentors (Have Worked at MSSM Camp Before):

Email summercamp@mssm.org with the subject line “Interested in Working at Summer Camp - Mentor” and tell us about what you liked and didn’t like about camp, and what skills you have that you can bring to camp. We are really interested in hearing about how you would change things from the last camp at which you worked.

Counselors:

Email summercamp@mssm.org with the subject line “Interested in Working at Summer Camp - Counselor” and tell us about yourself. Just a paragraph or two about where you live, your hobbies and interests, if you’ve been to camp, if you were a mentor in the past, what you liked and didn’t like about camp, and what skills you have that you can bring to camp.

Instructors:

Email us at summercamp@mssm.org and tell us about 3 class ideas you’d like to teach.

This year there will be 3 classes, but each will be longer. We will also have a 4th period that is shorter and is a time for you to teach anything you’d like. This could be quilting, speaking Japanese, juggling, basic guitar, etc. You would be doing the same class each day of the week or you could change and do 2 or more different ones. This period will have classes that don’t build on each other. Students could learn Japanese Monday, basic quilting Tuesday, Juggling Wednesday, or repeat one if they have a particular interest.

Once we choose 2 courses from you, we will ask for more information about each one. Also, give us an idea of what you would do in the 4th period, but you are not locking yourself into that. We just want to see some ideas for advertising.

Another change for this year is that we are asking instructors to drive/chaperone one weekend trip during your time at camp. These are usually to Goughan’s Farm for mini golf and ice cream, or the Francis Malcolm Science Center in Easton, or possible a movie in Caribou. It would also be great if you participated in Monster Night as many of you did last season. For the kids that stay two weeks or more, it’s better for us in many ways, but hard on the staff to have to drive them around to the same places.
